Planner – Customer Order Processing Department

Clays have been producing some of the most well-known and best-selling books in the UK for over 200 years, providing an invaluable service to a range of publishing clients.

We are looking to fulfil a vacancy within our busy Planning Department in a full time, permanent role.

The successful candidate will have:

  • an ability to work accurately under pressure
  • excellent attention to detail
  • clear communication skills
  • an ability to learn quickly and work with IT systems
  • a ‘team-player’ attitude

They will be IT literate with good passes in GCSE Maths and English.  Flexible working patterns will be required to respond to the demands of our customers.

Planning Department

The Planning Department is responsible for all aspects of processing customers’ orders, including management of customer data and creating instructions for the production and delivery of books, in a timely and accurate manner.

Reporting to the Customer Order Processing (COP) Manager you will develop skills in a range of tasks using our specialised software. This could include data downloading, generating works instructions and order checking, data entry including delivery instructions, working with both new and reprint orders, raising purchase orders to external suppliers, and working closely with other departments within Clays to deliver a first-class service to our customers.

Previous experience of working in an office or print environment would be an advantage, but work attitude and personality are more important.
